These are a few of our family’s favorite vegan items

Some of our favorite vegan items

My father-in-law is trying to eat more plant based and I’ve been trying to send him ideas. He recently asked me this question and I thought if it helped him, perhaps it would help others too!
Karen,
If you could tell me what you have found are the best brands of vegan products like, vegan cheese, sour cream, protein stuff, “burger” patties, etc. That would save me experimenting and wasting money on stuff that isn’t good. I’m also very open to making my own stuff from scratch, like I made some good salad dressing the other day using Greger’s recipe. I like to avoid processed anything these days, but sometimes convenience wins out.
If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know. Thanks so much for your help!!
Love you,
Jack

We go through stages and sometimes we try to eat very little processed but other times we like the convenience of premade burgers, salad dressings, sausages and the like. Our favorite brand of sausage is Field Roast by far.
Field Roast Vegan Sausages we like

We also like many of the Follow Your Heart items like Veganaise and Ranch Dressing. If you 5 minutes and a few ingredients on hand you can also make your own ranch dressing.

I also love this Tahini Garlic Dressing and this Creamy Avocado Dressing.

Beyond Meat BurgersNext up, burgers! I’ve really grown to enjoy the Beyond Meat burgers. You can see one in the picture above. We ate 3 and had one leftover so it’s in the little baggy. I have to say, the first time I had one of these, it was so much like what I remembered a regular burger to be like, I had a hard time enjoying it. I’ve been vegan for over 11 years now so if you’re just giving up burgers now, you may not agree but that was my experience. So needless to say, they definitely satisfy my desires. We also like the Dr Praeger’s California Veggie Burgers pictured above for a frozen patty.

If you want to make some burgers, we call this our Mmm burger. Recently, I tried this Grillable Vegan Burger from the Minimalist Baker and it was super easy to make and delicious.

Tofutti sour cream (pictured above) is my absolute favorite! I used to be quite addicted to the stuff but I’ve tried to cut back a bit as it is quite processed. When Jeff and I went on vacation to Roatan a couple years ago, I was delighted to find Tofutti sour cream in the grocery store!

We also like the Gardein items — porkless bites and chik’n that are pictured above but they can get pricey when our daughter eats a whole bag for lunch! 🙂

I forgot to include it in the picture but we really like these Soy Curls too! They are so versatile and have a texture kind of like chicken. You toss them in the freezer and use them as needed.

So that brings me to cheese. If I had a nickel for every time somebody said to me, “Oh I could NEVER give up CHEESE!” Ha ha… Seriously though, you can’t go from eating regular cheese to really enjoying the Daiya shreds that we now like in the picture, in my honest opinion. It’s good once you’ve been away from the real thing and you just use a small amount in comparison to the piles of regular cheese most people and restaurants pile on!

We love our Garlic Cashew Cheeze for things like Lasagna and Bruschetta.

And our favorite Cheeze Sauce for macaroni and cheese using raw cashews. Yum!

I recently found this Cheeze Sauce on Jill McKeever’s youtube channel. Don’t let the ingredients freak you out because it’s freakishly delicious!

Well hopefully that will help my father-in-law Jack and maybe a few of you out there too! Do you have a question? Leave a comment on our Facebook page and I’ll do my best to help you!
